Minuteman Press Hits 1,000 Followers

Minuteman Press Bristol has clocked up more than 1,000 followers on Twitter.

Twitter has been online since 2006 filling the gap between blogging and social networking sites such as Facebook.  Twitter allows users to convey messages of under 140 characters (tweets) that can be read by followers and appear on a timeline of tweets throughout the world.

With celebrities such as Stephen Fry and Derren Brown championing Twitter, it has gained huge popularity. Early in Twitter’s creation, Minuteman Press Bristol identified the potential of the networking website, using it to communicate with clients and customers.

No Paper Price Rises at Minuteman Press Bristol!

Despite deflation and recession, the major UK paper merchants will be increasing paper prices by 5-7%. However, Minuteman Press Bristol has fought these price rises to ensure that costs need not be passed on to clients during tough market conditions.

“Running inefficient operations as some of the paper merchants do, and requiring the market to subsidise the failures of the supplier, is truly appalling,” said Peter Wise, managing director of Minuteman Press Bristol.

He added that merchants should offer consistent pricing, and that as designers and printers agree prices with clients, merchants should also plan ahead.

Charity Recycling Initiative

Minuteman Press Bristol and CLIC Sargent are working to recycle used paper. Scrap materials will be recycled into pads of varying sizes that can be reused at CLIC Sargent offices, giving valuable resources a second life.

The initiative is believed to be the first of its kind, and has been made possible by Minuteman Press Bristol providing its materials free of charge. Paper is delivered to our Bedminster print centre and collected by passing CLIC vehicles, to ensure no additional journeys are made.

Mark Good, Sargent’s recycling coordinator said: “We need support from organisations like Minuteman Press Bristol. On behalf of everyone at CLIC Sargent I would like to thank Minuteman Press Bristol for their continued support”.

Minuteman Press Bristol director Peter Wise added: “It’s wonderful when two organisations can work together to deliver beneficial results. It makes the hard work worthwhile!”

Peter Wise Wins Best of PrintWeek Award

PrintWeek magazine, published by Haymarket Business Media, has selected Peter Wise, managing director of Minuteman Press Bristol, as one of the six winners of the Q&A Best of 2008.

Q&A is a regular feature of PrintWeek, and the section provides an opportunity for senior printing industry personalities to reveal a little of their lives outside of design and print.

In the interview Peter revealed that what made him laugh were: “Volvo drivers – they are deluded motorway police wannabes”. And on being asked about his most embarrassing moment, he said that it was: “Explaining the large circular bruise on my forehead, which lasted two weeks and was caused by getting a working breast pump stuck to my head.”
