Minuteman Press Bristol is delighted once again to be working in partnership with the ever expanding Bristol Shakespeare Festival. The festival is an established feature in the Bristol social calendar, and has proven popular with locals and visitors alike.
The Bristol Shakespeare Festival 2018 Programme features a broad variety of performances and educational workshops; presented by a proliferation of theatrical companies experienced in delivering Shakespearean performances of Globe Theatre worthy standards.
To ensure another successful festival year, the Bristol Shakespeare Festival required a full package of promotional marketing materials. Minuteman Press Bristol were commissioned to produce physical printed marketing product designed by Bristol Shakespeare Festival’s own highly talented Bristol based Programme and Brand Designer Afshin Walker.
The Festival Programmes were printed lithographically, on Forest Stewardship Council certified uncoated stock; to combine the client’s vision of the product, make it tactile and give it the unmistakeable smell of ink on paper! The programmes having been printed, collated, stapled, folded and three edge trimmed, were distributed to multiple locations throughout the city of Bristol and beyond; for onward dissemination to prospective audience members.
Large format A0 (841mm x 1189mm) posters were giclée printed, together with smaller A3 (297mm x 420mm) digitally printed posters to promote the festival; appearing in the windows of venues, hostelries, offices, homes and other locations anticipated to deliver high visibility.
Flyers (A5 148mm x 210mm) were also produced for prospective audience members to pick up, take away and discuss at leisure.
The printed package would not have been complete without the production of scripts for cast members; namely for 1599.
The Bristol Shakespeare Festival 2018 includes the world premiere of 1599: A Year in the life of William Shakespeare. The awesome play was inspired by the best-selling book 1599: A Year in the Life of William Shakespeare, by Professor James Shapiro (Shapiro, J. 2006, Faber and Faber; ISBN 978-0571214815). The Bristol Shakespeare Festival performance of 1599 was written and directed by Ed Viney and was produced by Jacqui Ham.
Doing It for the Kids
The best ideas are the simple ones, and Kids Club Bristol ticks all the boxes of being a simple idea perfectly delivered.
Minuteman Press Bristol is suitably impressed!
Kids Club Bristol is a website enabling clubs geared at children to advertise for free, and reach parents across Bristol and Bath. Nick Hibbs set up the website in April 2012 with just six clubs on the site, and now he has an astonishing 267 clubs.
After ‘meeting’ Nick on Twitter, Minuteman Press Bristol has become a proud sponsor of the Kids Club Bristol website, and we’re also pleased to have helped them out on a big print job for their fabulous new flyers.
“Minuteman were recommended to me by a number of local groups,” explains Nick. “Working with Minuteman was easy and it was all done over email, including the flyer design. The flyers have enabled me to reach out to more families across Bristol, and I’ve seen an increase in website visitors, and had lots of positive comments about the colourful design”.

Life Cycle
Bristol-based insurance broker Chris Bloomfield is attempting a sub-human feat of endurance. He’s intending to cycle 66 miles a day, for 66 days, across America’s famous Route 66. Phew!
Starting in September 2013, Chris will rack up 3,500 miles on the epic journey, which will take him from New York to Los Angeles. And he’s doing this to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and Great Ormond Street Hospital, after his grandfather died of Alzheimer’s disease in 2012.
Chris explains: “I have decided to cycle Route 66 due to the magnitude of the task, along with the hope of creating a parallel between my vulnerability and those who have suffer with dementia. The route is fairly deserted and this means I will need the help of many people along the way. This help is similar to those who have no choice but to receive help when suffering with dementia.”
He adds: “I’m completing the trip entirely solo! Some of my family are worried about me but I have a pretty determined mindset, therefore I will get
through the pain and struggles to complete the trip.”
With a sponsorship goal of £20,000 to meet, Minuteman Press Bristol didn’t think twice about not only sponsoring a brick in Chris’s virtual fundraising wall, but also subsidising the costs of his printed materials.
Chris explains: “Minuteman has provided me with some fantastic business cards that I have been passing to potential sponsors, and these will also be used when I am in America to generate extra donations. Also I will be
using Minuteman for some flyer and poster printing for a couple of events that are coming up in the next few months.”
