In the view of Minuteman Press Bristol, one of the most iconic fonts ever created is Village. The font was developed for use in the 1967 television series The Prisoner, which was co-created by and starred Patrick McGoohan (1928 – 2009).
Village font is an adaptation of Berthold Wolpe’s glyphic, serif typeface Albertus. Berthold was a metal engraver and he designed Albertus to represent engraving on bronze.
Other personal Minuteman Press Bristol favourite fonts are Johnston Sans (created by Edward Johnston, and best known for its use on the iconic Transport for London signs), and Transport (created by Jock Kinneir and Margaret Calvert, which is commonly used on British road signs).
