Alice in (printing) wonderland

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our newest team member Alice Nutley!

“I have always been highly creative and surrounded by creative people; studying art and design was the natural progression. My studies began at Brighton City College and progressed at the University of the West of England, Bristol”.

Alice graduated in 2017 from the University of the West of England having achieved an upper second BA Hons degree in Graphic Design. Her studies were based at the Arnolfini, City Campus, Bristol.

“I’m inspired by and have a positive attitude toward everything; people and their actions are particularly interesting”.

Alice’s professional career, alongside academia has been in both retail and hospitality sectors.

“Every day is always different at Minuteman Press Bristol. Very interested in the projects people bring and what they’d like the project to achieve with our assistance; affords an interesting glimpse into their lives also”.

As Print Production Manager, Alice’s role includes overseeing digital and inkjet print production, plus the bindery and finishing department. In addition to getting her fingers inky, she is involved in graphic design.

“I appreciate all elements of creating encompassed by graphic design, photography, drawing etc. With graphic design you are always learning new skills… you can be designing for anything.”

But from where do Alice’s ideas originate?

“I’ve always liked David Bowie, his out there approach, always questioning everything, looking at challenges from a different perspective; good to be creative with a twist, think of alternative solutions. My ideas come from experiences but also from research, you have to do your research”.

“Alice brings a fresh perspective and extends the calibre of the Minuteman Bristol team. I’m so pleased she has chosen to remain in Bristol and join us. Alice is a welcome addition and is already adding great value to the solutions we provide for our treasured customer base” (Peter Wise, Director).

Alice’s adventures at Minuteman Press Bristol have been pleasurable. “I like being part of a close team in a nice atmosphere; a humble company with big and small clients”.

Every day is a new day with new challenges demanding original and creative solutions; in the words of Charles Dodgson, always be “Curiouser and curiouser!”

A Wise Minuteman

Minuteman Press Bristol has a new managing director.

Peter Wise has taken over the reigns of the Bedminster based operation, which specialises in the design and production of materials using lithograph and digital manufacture. A combination believed to be unique in the Bristol area, allowing clients to order any materials in any volume.

Peter has worked in marketing for 15 years, having served in the UK and abroad in a variety of design and communication roles. Most recently as international marketing manager for Herman Miller, with responsibility for strategy in more than 50 countries worldwide.

In addition to a wealth of experience, Wise holds an MA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, is an active Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

In an introductory presentation to the Minuteman Press Bristol team, Peter said: “I first encountered Minuteman Press Bristol as a client and was surprised at the variety of products and services they were able to offer. The majority of print companies I have come across are incapable or unwilling to provide a ‘one stop shop’ service. My vision is to grow the business, increase the quality of goods and invest in the community.”
