The origins of business cards in Europe can be traced back to the seventeenth century. The footmen of aristocrats would deliver these visiting cards to the servants of their prospective hosts solemnly introducing their arrival; the card tray presented by the servant, on the palm of the left hand. The visiting card was in effect a streamlined letter of introduction, as it still is today.

Business cards are printed 85mm x 55mm ‘credit card’ size to ensure that they fit in the wallet without being folded. On occasions at Minuteman Press we print 90mm x 60mm business cards; typically where they have a dual use (e.g. written receipt or appointment card).

For one, two and three colour business cards we print on 400gsm on an offset printing press.

For full colour and short run (typically less than 500 business cards) Minuteman Press print on 400gsm digitally.

All business cards may be gloss or matt laminated (a thin protective film applied to the business card) on one or both sides.

We accept orders for multiple names on the same business card order at no additional charge.

Our business card printing / business card designing services are available nationwide and do not require you to visit our Bristol outlet if you are not in the local area.

If you have your own business card design, you may supply Minuteman Press with a digital file, which should have adequate bleeds and crop marks. This will ensure that Minuteman Press can print all the way to the edge of the business card. If you don’t have a file, Minuteman Press will be pleased to turn your concept into a reality. Files can be uploaded via the ‘File transfers’ tab.
